Welcome to UTS First Game Jam

Out of curiousity, 2 friends and I participated in UTS First Game Jam hosted by the Interaction Design and Games Faculty.

It was the first time I have ever created a game with a other people; let alone present it and let other students play it.

There were three themes that the must atleast copy one of theme.

  1. Luminati
  2. Fighting the Elderly
  3. I forgot Damn

Since none of us were studying a game degree or something relevent we had a disadvantage compared to everyone else.

But… we all had a solid background in software development.

We didn’t want to dive into Unity as it would take us too long to learn the tools and create a functional game.

We made a goal.

We wanted our game to work as a web application and on our phones and…

We wanted it to be about dogs.

Dogs.

I referenced alot of the art used. I am only using it for a learning process and not to copy/steal someone’s art. I pain stakingly made some original content as well.

Experience

Over the course of 2 days we made a fully functional game that we were all proud of. At the end of the submission we were all relieved it was over but also happy that we achieved our goal. The swole doggo gave everyone in Game Jam a good laugh and made me excited that something I made was worth the experience.

Although we were all sleep deprived, this is the most fun I ever had university 10/10 would do a Game Jam again.

Hopefully UTS will do another Game Jam next year!
